Our Christmas Letter

It used to be that we sent out a letter with our Christmas cards to update friends and family on what we had done during the year. So, I’m using my blog for that purpose this year….

This Christmas will be rough for Lori, since her mom passed away in January. Added to that is the fact that it’s just the two of us. Years ago, we would be with family. Usually, we would travel to Georgia from Virginia or Ohio–both places where I had served as a pastor–to be with Lori’s family. (For Thanksgiving we were usually with my family.) Lori’s mom would prepare a wonderful meal and the guests included not only Lori’s mom, but one of Lori’s brothers and an uncle and aunt. During the season we would see another brother and his family as well as various cousins. Quite a change!

Lori continues as a ministry assistant for Sandy Plains Baptist Church in Marietta. This position is like an administrative assistant for a local congregation, and Lori loves her job there.

At this writing, I’m not serving a congregation. My current vocation is driving a special needs school bus. I pick up students at their homes and transport them to particular schools based on their particular needs. I drive over 120 miles a day around Cobb County and have been working nearly eight hours a day. In additional to special needs students, pre-schoolers also ride.

Back in October, Lori and I went to Evergreen Baptist Church in Appomattox, Virginia, where I had served as pastor. Although it had been postponed for about a year and a half, this service was to celebrate their paying off the note on the new facility which I had led them in building. I enjoyed preaching there again and seeing many friends.

Lori and I wish all of you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
